2008 leatherback season is over

It's official! The 2008 leatherback season has arrived to its end with a total of 88 nests laid, 10 new leatherbacks tagged, 1,480.8 miles walked, and 435 hours spent on the beach at night.
It is estimated that at least 79% of the nest are natural, but despite our best disguising efforts, around 6% of nests have been declared poached. Needless to say, a disheartening part of the job.
Good news is that thanks to the efforts of our volunteers (EMs) and the dedication of the field staff, 645 hatchlings made it to the sea this season.
