Rufescent’s Return
GVI Costa Rica Expedition Members on bird surveys this week were rewarded with quality rather than quantity. An adult rufescent tiger-heron (Tigrisoma lineatum), was seen for the first time on bird survey in 6 months. The lucky six spotted the bird whilst paddling during a glorious sunrise over Caño Palma on Monday morning.
Near the end of the survey on Caño Harold this week, the team were uplifted by the song of the white-throated crake (Laterallus albigularis). A small but charismatic bird that is easily hidden in the damp, grassy vegetation that it prefers to inhabit.
