Weaving for Nature

Thanks to the efforts of the women of Gandoca (a small community on the South Caribbean) and in partnership with Widecast, we are currently selling handmade, fair trade plastic ‘bags’. These fair-trade bags help support the women and benefit marine turtle conservation, both through Widecast and GVI Costa Rica.

Gandoca is a nesting ground for the critically endangered leatherback and every year serves as a host to numerous ANAI volunteers from around the globe. Plastic bags are one of the biggest threats to the magnificent baulas (leatherbacks) who mistake them for their main source of food source - jellyfish.
