Photo Competition 112

As is now becoming customary in Week 7, GVI Jalova held a photo competition for the volunteers. Previously this has created some entertaining and also stunning shots of the local area and its inhabitants. Therefore all the staff were excited to see what our current volunteers could come up with. As usual, it was not about the quality of the camera, but also thinking outside the box and coming up with a new way of looking at a category.

Prizes were being contested across 4 areas; Wildlife, People, Landscape and Inanimate Object. The participants had to submit one photo per category and only had the afternoon with which to produce their shots. Voting to decide winners was conducted by staff the following day, with all 7 staff members having an equal say.

Teams of 3 or 4 set off and came back with some surprising photos. Here are some of the winners:

‘Sandy Shorts’ came up with this alternative look at a landscape, not one found in the local area!

This Marine Toad was found in the compost area by team JHS. It must have taken some dedication and a lack of a sense of smell to get this photo!

We also liked Alex’s effort at a turtle half moon! Not sure that turtles normally wear hats though.
