What we're reading this week...

Time for that burst of light reading again to keep you all up to date with the latest in the world of conservation, fun facts and goings on...

Here you can read the latest about WWF's work with tigers (Sunday was Chinese New Year for those of you that don't know, and this year is the Year of the Tiger), what we should know and how we could be helping. And here you can read more about how you can get involved in GVI's work in Asia, helping with community capacity building projects as well as conservation initiatives.

For all you bird lovers out there - and maybe this should be dedicated to the team in the field at GVI CR, who have been racking up the personal first sightings of long-tailed tyrants, limpkins and agami herons recently - a new paper on the evolution of birds from dinosaurs...or was it the other way around?

You can read more about the GVI Costa Rica bird project here.

For those of you concerned with marine turtle conservation, a new paper out highlighting the dangers of eating reptiles may be of interest, as might our new short-term volunteering option to volunteer on the GVI Costa Rica expedition's marine turtle monitoring program on the largest green turtle rookery in the western hemisphere! Find out more here.

And for a bit of fun, check out these amazing photos of giraffes and read a little about the conservation efforts of working with these spectacular animals and find out more about GVI's programs in Africa.

And the guys at base have been trying their hands at identifying some of the butterflies in the garden - some great photos, but this highlights some of the difficulties of getting an ID. Now...you're probably hungry after all that. Don't forget it's pancake day! Enjoy Mardi Gras, Carnival, Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or just Tuesday, wherever you are!
