Hatchling watch

This week’s morning census teams were busy with excavating leatherback nests along the beach, including one dug up by Rich, Bill and Haley near Turtle Beach Lodge. At first, they were discouraged to find that many hatchlings didn’t make it to the surface. Fortunately, the team got there just in time to rescue 11 of the tiny turtles, who were quite weak, but revived quickly by a rain shower and made it safely to sea thanks to the team!
